Wildlife Migration

May 18, 2010 No Comments

The journey northward is underway! Spring is here and with it – new wildlife.

Seasonal change is all around us. Children see it in the length of a day, in the appearance of a flower, in the flight of a butterfly. Hummingbirds, Gray Whales, Robins, and Monarch Butterflies are on the move. Watch the global migration northward in real time and learn about seasonal change on Journey North.

The Journey North program extends for four months each year, with live inter-active programming from approximately February 2 until June 1. You can help collect data about a dozen different migrations and signs of spring beginning each February.  It is a free online educational service, supported by the Annenberg Media. Over 17,000 classrooms, representing more than 630,000 students, participated in the 2008 Journey North Program. These students were from all 50 U.S. States and 7 Canadian Provinces.
