Summer Time For Creativity
Online/Long Distance Sparking Creativity Course
based on the book, The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron
June 21 – August 9, 2010
Come. Participate from wherever you live. Reflect. Treasure. Envision. Imagine. Play. Poke. Explore. Discover. Refresh. Cherish. Listen. Ponder.
Reconfigured & condensed into a seven-week intensive summer course (at the request of parents and teachers) this journey will refresh your creativity, heighten your self-awareness, and nurture your inner voice. Recommended especially for anyone in transition or wanting a fresh outlook, “Sparking Creativity” will hone your spiritual intuition and spark your creativity.
You don’t need to be an artist per se, or a writer. It is about creative expression – feeling creative, confident and whole – and relies primarily on writing as a means of facilitating self-discovery. Over the course of the seven weeks participants will read The Artist’s Way together, engage in daily journal writing, and experience creative exercises such as artist’s dates, recalling nurturing experiences and buried dreams, creating sacred space for retreat and reflection, and generating lists of possibilities.
Class convenes online in a private area of www.inspirationhouse.org & during weekly conference calls between June 21 – August 8, 2010. Proposed Conference Call Schedule: Monday evenings, 7:30 – 8:30 pm EDT – June 21 & 28; July 5, 12, 19, & 26; August 2 & 9. Fee: $195.

Experiencing The Artist’s Way in a group setting has proven to be especially meaningful. Here are some comments from past participants about the benefits they have received:
“Like many other classmates, I had purchased this book and browsed through the chapters but not done any serious (playful) work with the chapters. I believe this book needs to be experienced with a group of people and a facilitator. The class itself was immensely beneficial for me. I loved going through the book with others and sharing our experiences whether they were challenges or an exciting awareness. Carol held space for all of these. Carol was very skilled at listening, asking questions, flowing with and redirecting conversations with a very diverse group of people. She created a space that allowed the sacred circle rules of The Artist’s Way to be ever present. I found this class invaluable on my path of self-discovery.” – S. Kindt, Newton, MA
“The Artist’s Way helped me take time to stop and look, really look, at the world around me–something I’d felt slipping away in all the busy-ness. I feel like I unlocked channels of creative expression that had been straining to emerge to little avail. The course material is great. Carol’s ability to facilitate is even greater.” – L. Grob, Weston, MA
“I have just completed The Artist’s Way course. The course was not all about one’s self, it was about the progress of the entire class, the other students, our overcoming the barriers to our creativity. Students varied from commercial artists, writers, painters and poets, like myself. (I didn’t realize I was a poet until I took this course.) As a result of this course, I have created a few poems and am working on many more. Equally important, I see my interaction with the world as an opportunity to create on its landscape.” – T. Van Duyne, Sudbury, MA
“The Artist’s Way helped me admit and allow myself to view my self, life and work as creative and honor that in others as well. I loved participating with Carol in The Artist Way workshops these past two summers because the exercises were fun, fresh, achievable and naturally stretching. Carol is open, welcoming, non-judgmental, and compassionate. She meets you were you are and is able to pace the group and shift activities, take a break, nature walk etc. She is listening in the moment and discerning about what each next step feels right for the group. The exercises fed me and helped me stretch forth mentally and practically during and after the workshop.” – S. Perkins, Bath, ME
“Carol brings a warmhearted, humorous and caring personality to all that she does. Having been in past workshops with her, I have been greatly rewarded by the creative atmosphere and genuine comradery she lavishes on the participants during their journey together.” – W. Conant, Boston, MA
