Virgin Territory – How I Found My Inner Guadalupe
Book Review by Carol Hohle

Susan J. Cobb’s memoir, Virgin Territory – How I Found My Inner Guadalupe, is a fascinating read.  I was transported, along with the author, as she left her life in the U.S, and headed to rural Mexico.  The life she was heading towards sounded fabulous – downsizing to an easier and more simple lifestyle.  But, no sooner than she put down roots in a small town on Mexico’s Pacific Coast her life takes an unexpected turn.

Virgin Territory chronicles the unexpected journey Susan takes into the ‘deep feminine’ where she discovers a larger sense of what she really is.  Tales about the Virgin of Guadalupe, along with other indigenous goddesses and feminine icons, enrich Susan’s personal story and provide a backdrop for every woman’s ‘inner Mary.’  Susan’s writing is filled with humor and wit and wisdom.

Reading Virgin Territory gave me new views of what it means to be a woman and it left me cherishing my own femininity even more.
